Garage door maintenance: tips and tricks


There are several simple things YOU the homeowner can do for preventive maintenance on your Garage door.
  • Lubrication. This is very important, your door should be lubricated with a garage door lubricant at least every 3-6 months to keep things running smooth. 
  • Check for loose or missing screws. This is typically done while lubricating. If you find a loose or missing screw go ahead and tighten it up or replace it.
  • Photo cells. Make sure the photo cells are facing each other and that there are no build up of spider webs or debris.
Those are some basic maintenance tips to maintaining a healthy garage door. A more advanced maintenance is recommended every year and a half to two years to Maximize the life and health of your garage door and opening system.

1. Check spring tension and adjust if needed
2. Tighten or replace any bolts, nuts, or screws that look loose
3. Lubricate door and opener
4. Adjust track and hardware if needed
5. Adjust up and down limits if needed

7. Replace any burnt out light bulbs
